Here we demonstrate a stand-alone sheet of nanofibers made using SNC BEST – Ball ElectroSpinning Technology. The sheet measures 1 m by 5 m with a planar density of 15 gsm and consists of PAN nanofibers with average diameter of 200 nm. No carrier substrate is required for the fibers.

Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas have created new structures that exploit the electromechanical properties of specific nanofibers to stretch to up to seven times their length, while remaining tougher than Kevlar.
